Minnesota Lynx Gear Up for 2014 Season






MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL The Minnesota Lynx will gear up for the 2014 season with Two Weeks to Tip-Off, a series of events around the Twin Cities beginning May 3. Lynx players, coaches and staff will be involved in marketing and community events for two consecutive weeks leading up to the May 18 home opener against the Connecticut Sun. The Lynx will also be taking part in Lynx Cares events in the community, in which Lynx players and coaches make an extra effort to give back to the community.

The following are some of the event highlights:
Saturday, May 3: Members of the Lynx staff will be at the grand opening of the Mayo Clinic Sports Medicine Center in Rochester, Minnesota. They'll be interacting with the community and bringing awareness to the upcoming Lynx season.

Monday, May 5: Fans will have the first chance to see the 2014 Lynx in person for their preseason game against the Australian Opals National Team. Tip-off is 7 p.m. at Target Center.

Sunday, May 11: Representatives from the Lynx will be at the 22nd annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure at the Mall of America in Bloomington. The race begins at 9:00 a.m. with a 5K walk outside and a 1K walk inside.

Tuesday, May 13: Lynx players and coaches will be waiting tables and pouring drinks at Champps in Minnetonka for an evening of fun, festivities and flair. In additional, fans will have the opportunity to get an autograph or picture with the players and coaches.

Friday, May 16: An event-packed Friday begins with members of the Lynx staff serving breakfast in the skyway outside of the Timberwolves' offices beginning at 6 a.m. The festivities will continue that evening with a Lynx viewing party at Champps in Minnetonka as Minnesota opens their season in the nation's capital against the Mystics.

Sunday, May 18: The 2014 Home Opener begins at 4:00 p.m. as the Lynx face off with the Connecticut Sun. There will be a pregame ceremony where the team will raise their 2013 WNBA championship banner and receive their championship rings. The game will be broadcast on Fox Sports North Plus.
