Montgomery Captures Honda Award
Just because she's now in the WNBA doesn't mean Renee Montgomery can't continue to pile on the collegiate accolades. Just last week the five-foot-seven point guard was named the winner of the Honda Award, given to the nation's top collegiate female basketball athlete.
The honor was based on the results of national balloting among 1,000 NCAA member schools as part of the Collegiate Women Sports Awards program, now in its 33rd year. The award, given annually to the top women athletes in 12 NCAA-sanctioned sports, includes an automatic nomination for Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year.
Montgomery joins Lynx superstar Seimone Augustus (2005, 2006) as Lynx players who have won the award in their respective collegiate careers.
