American Idol Finalists to Headline Minnesota Idol Night

Performances by American Idol finalists and local musicians Casey Carlson and Jesse Langseth will headline Minnesota Idol Night on Tuesday, July 7 when the Lynx take on the Washington Mystics at Target Center. Prior to Tuesday night's contest at 7:00 p.m., Carlson, an Eden Prairie, Minn., native and 2009 American Idol top 36 finalist, will perform the National Anthem. Langseth, a Minneapolis, Minn., native who fell just short of the final 12, will host a postgame acoustical concert.

Carlson, a University of Minnesota student and psychology major advanced to Hollywood Week after performing Vanessa Carlton's "1,000 Miles" at the American Idol auditions in Kansas City, Mo. From there, Carlson advanced to the top 36 after singing Jordan Sparks "Tatoo". Carlson was eliminated from the competition one week later, falling just short of making the final 12.

Langseth, a Minneapolis, Minn., native and the sister of Grammy Award-winner Jonny Lang, auditioned in Kansas City, Missouri singing "The First Cut is the Deepest" by Sheryl Crow and progressed to Hollywood Week, receiving four yes votes from the judges. After moving into the top 36, Langseth fell just short of the top 12, but was selected for the Wildcard Round. Langseth kicked off Wildcard night by singing "Tell Me Something Good" by Rufus and Chaka Khan. After her American Idol experience, Langseth has since formed the "Jesse Lang Band" and released an Extended Play titled 'Transitions' earlier in 2009 and plans to release a full album before 2010.
