May: Minnesota began the 2004 season with only five returning players from their 2003 playoff team. After a three-game Western Conference road trip to begin the season, the Lynx won their Home Opener but ended the month with a 2-3 record.

June: The Lynx began the month with two consecutive victories but also endured a three-game slide near the end of the month. One of the team's highlights in June was two wins over the Comets, marking the first time the Lynx had beaten Houston twice in one season.

July/August: The Lynx rattled off a franchise-record six-game winning streak, including a 20-point comeback win, before losing Katie Smith to a season-ending injury. But the Lynx finished July with an 8-3 record, the best month in team history.

September: Minnesota was only 3-5 in September, but at the end of the regular season, the Lynx claimed the WNBA's third-best record with a franchise-record-tying 18 wins.
