Lynx Coach Suzie McConnell Serio
"U-G-L-Y... That was ugly. I was definitely more animated than usual. I was very frustrated with the turnovers. I know we can play better than that. I know we can make a better showing offensively. We have to cut down on the turnovers. Teams are capitalizing too much on them. We need to be more disciplined with the ball. But I thought our defense down the stretch... We really stepped up and came up with big plays."

"Our defense has to overcome whatever we're doing on offense. A lot of the time, our defense is creating our offense. We're a team that can run with our personnel. We have good wings who can shoot the ball, and with Ohlde's ability to run the floor, we need to stretch them out. At the same time, we have to be a team that can play in the halfcourt when teams are able to take away our fast-break opportunities. It's scary how good of a team we can be when we watch ourselves on tape and we see how well we can execute."

"Katie can always hit big shots, and we have the confidence in her to do that. The team will feed off Katie's game. Sometimes she tries to read things, and figure out where she's going to get her shots and find her opportunities to penetrate. Sometimes she needs to be more aggressive in her penetration and coming to get the ball, because we always want her to have the ball when the shot clock is running down."

"(Smith's three-pointer) was huge. Then unfortunately she had to go and miss her only free throw of the season. We called the play and executed it, but they took away our number-one option and our number-two option, and then it came back to Katie. After she hit it, I looked over at the bench and saw all the emotion the team had. It was great to see."

"We dodged a big bullet by them only getting 14 points off our turnovers. Just the other day, New York had 24 or so off our turnovers. You have to give our defense credit. When we needed stops, we got stops. We have a rule of challenging every single shot, and for the most part we did that."

"It was a huge game for Michele Van Gorp. I said at halftime and after the game, 'Welcome back.' She is something we definitely need. She's been struggling with a bunch of minor injuries. We've kept her out of practice for the most part to minimize the pounding. That was a nice game after she basically hasn't practiced for the last week. She has experience, which is something we need. She's a 6-6 post that can step out and hit the high-post jumper. She showed nice variety in her game tonight, with the hook shot and her ability to defend. She's very comfortable defending someone like Margo Dydek."

Lynx Guard Katie Smith
"You just never know if you're going to shoot the ball well, if it's going to go in. We're going to have to rely on (defense). That's something we're going to have to do game-in and game-out. That's something we did tonight, and we feel good about it."

"It was a totally different ballgame (than the first meeting). The score was similar, but our energy from the get-go was totally different. We just brought a bit more."

"We had a lot of easy turnovers. That's something that's going to kill you in the long run. That's something we've got to take care of. We've got to take more pride in taking care of the ball."

"I got some good looks. I think I need to be aggressive. I think I need to be doing things throughout the ballgame, but obviously at that point in the game, you do have to make an effort. I have confidence that I can knock down shots, create things for other people, and make the good pass. I obviously want the ball in my hands."

Lynx Center Michele Van Gorp
"Everyone on the team had turnovers tonight. That's a big thing we need to clean up, and we really need to take care of that quite quickly. I don't know what it is, or what we need to do, but our offense is not clicking right now. We're playing good defense. We're holding teams to pretty low scores, if you look at all of our games. The trouble is, we're not scoring. Part of that is turnovers. Another part is that we're not making shots. That's the inside players and the outside players, and that's something we're going to have to get better at."

Lynx Center Nicole Ohlde
"Katie is an All-Star. She does everything for this team. She's just a great athlete and a great basketball player. When she's on, you just have to give her the ball... I was just trying to crash the boards hard. This is a way I can help out the team."

Silver Stars Coach Dee Brown
"We worked so hard during the course of 35 minutes to give ourselves a chance to win... Our execution and lack of assertiveness during that (last) stretch, where we knew we had a chance to win, was lacking. That's frustrating."

"Van Gorp's always played well against (Dydek). They're very physical with her, and Ohlde is a little quicker than her. It was just a matter of trying to get some better matchups and just keep it quick, keep the pace quick. They were just running down the court. Ohlde takes off, Van Gorp takes off. Van Gorp kept them in the game in the first half. Van Gorp had five or six points in the first half, just based on her coming out on the perimeter and shooting jumpers over Margo, because they know Margo is not that mobile."

"(Smith) is an Olympian for a reason. She's one of the better women's players of all time because of that. She plays hard every time she's on the court. She hit some big shots, made some good defensive plays... You expect that from your best player. We didn't expect any different from her."

Silver Stars Forward Adrienne Goodson
"We just didn't do the things we needed to do to win the game. The first half, we didn't play a great game, but we still stuck with them because we were playing good defense. In the second half, we just came out flat and we lost focus of the things that we needed to do. We didn't execute our offense, and the little things add up on the road — they really do."

"It's not one thing that stood out. There are several things that happened down the stretch that really hurt us, and we couldn't bounce back. We were playing from behind the whole game. The energy level goes down when your back is up against the wall like we were."

Silver Stars Forward LaToya Thomas
"We just didn't shoot the ball well. They came out focused, and they played great defense. We just couldn't get our rhythm going... We felt pretty comfortable. With two minutes to go in the game, we felt like we could come back and win. But they came out and matched our intensity, and they took the lead for good."

"Katie's a great player. It's hard to defend a great player. When she's on, she's on. She hit the big buckets down the stretch."
