Lynx Players Take Reading Time-Out
The Minnesota Lynx and the Lynx Foundation played host to a Reading Time-Out as a part of the WNBA's Read to Achieve program Tuesday at the Como Park Zoo Conservatory in St. Paul. Broadcaster Tom Hanneman and Minnesota Lynx players Nicole Ohlde, Tamika Raymond and Kathrin Ress read The Tiny Seed, by Eric Carle, to children ages 4-12 from St. Paul's East Side Family Center. A Q&A about the book followed the reading and prizes were handed out for correct answers. Then the children and players took a behind-the-scenes tour of the Como Park Zoo Conservatory.
The WNBA's Read to Achieve program is a year-round literacy program that aims to help young people develop a lifelong love for reading. It is the most extensive educational outreach initiative in the history of professional sports, according to the WNBA website.
