United Spinal Liberty Make Run At Wheelchair Championship

The New York Liberty would like to send big congratulations to the United Spinal Liberty (USL) women's wheelchair basketball team for finishing tenth in the 34th annual women's Wheelchair Basketball National Championship this past weekend [March 8-9] at the University of Illinois.

The USL is only the 11th women’s wheelchair basketball team in the U.S. and consists of 15 women, ranging in age from 5 to 51 years old. With over 125 of nation’s best women’s wheelchair basketball players competing, the USL fought hard to achieve its finish. The championship title went to the host team, the University of Illinois, edging the University of Alabama, 44-43.

The USL will lose three of its players next year, all of whom will be playing wheelchair basketball at their respective colleges. The Liberty wishes each member of the USL team the best of luck, both on and off the court in the future. For more information about the United Spinal Association, log onto www.unitedspinal.org.
