Liberty Select Ann Wauters
In WNBA Dispersal Draft

New York, Jan. 6, 2004 -- New York Liberty Senior Vice President and General Manager Carol Blazejowski announced today the selection of Ann Wauters in today’s WNBA Dispersal Draft. Wauters was the 4th player chosen overall.

The no. 1 overall pick of the 2000 WNBA Draft, Wauters currently averages 15.6 ppg, 9.2 rpg and 2.8 apg for team US Valenciennes Olympic in France. The 23-year old is shooting a team-high .541 from the floor and has posted four double-digit rebounding performances in the young season.

During the 2002 season, the 6'4" center marked her best season in the WNBA averaging 11.2 ppg along with shooting .553 from the floor. Wauters led the Rockers in total blocks (21) and ranked fourth on the squad in total rebounds (140).

“We are extremely excited to add Ann Wauters to our team. At 6-4, she is an extremely athletic and skilled post player who will help solidify our front court,” said Blazejowski.
