Erin Thorn: Salute to Dad

On Sunday, June 3rd, the New York Liberty will face Diana Taurasi, Cappie Pondexter and the Phoenix Mercury on the court at Madison Square Garden. The Liberty will also host “Dads & Daughters Day,” a league-wide celebration of the bond between fathers and daughters. In honor of “Dads & Daughters Day,” NYLiberty.com caught up with some Liberty players to get the dish on Dad.

What role did your Dad play in your basketball career?
He was a major supporter, went to all of my high school games, my college home pages and a few on the road. And since I have been playing in the WNBA, he has come to at least one game a year. He stays updated online the rest of the time.

What is the best advice your Dad gave you about basketball? And about life?
He taught me that you can be and do whatever you put your mind to - no matter what others might tell you. Plus, remember who you are and what you stand for.

What’s a special connection that only you and your Dad share that no one else in your family could claim?
I will be the one that always helps him select his Fantasy Football team.

If you could give your Dad anything in the world, what would it be?
A big hug! It's been over a month and I usually get one at least once a week.

What message would you like to share with your Dad on this year’s Dads & Daughter’s Day?
Thanks for everything you've done for me and the rest of the family.
