Tina Thompson will play her final regular season contest against the Liberty in a matchup of New York vs. the Seattle Storm on Tuesday, July 9th, at 7:00pm ET.

The Liberty (5-7) lost five of their last six games including their last three in a row. New York fell to the Chicago Sky on Sunday, July 7th, 93-64 at home. Cappie Pondexter led New York with 18 points. She lacked steady help from teammates throughout the game. The Liberty shot 24-72 from the field at 33% and 2-12 from three at 16%. New York went to the free throw line 18 times while Chicago went 30 times converting 26. The Liberty rebounded well and continued to decrease turnovers, however, for the third straight game they allowed over 92 points to their opponent. The Sky had four players score in double digits.

The Seattle Storm are led by the perennial WNBA All-Star, four-time WNBA champion, and the league’s number one all time leading scorer in Tina Thompson. Thompson will retire after this season, declaring this year the final season of her successful career and therefore making this her last regular season game against the New York Liberty.

The Seattle Storm (5-7) are coming off of a 62-59 loss to the Washington Mystics on Saturday, July 6th. Shekinna Stricklen dropped 20 points, Temeka Johnson dished 10 assists and Tina Thompson added 11 points in the come from behind effort that fell short. Seattle’s 26 turnovers in the game was too much to overcome. This Tuesday’s game in New York will conclude a four-game 13-day road trip for Seattle.

Keys To The Game:

Stingy Defense

The Liberty got the win on the road versus Seattle behind a defensive effort that held the Storm to under 34% from the field and below 6% from three. That’s the defensive identity the Liberty want to return to.

Don’t Settle!

In searching for identity and good rotations, the Liberty have seemingly become a jump shooting team. The Liberty are shooting more threes and jump shots as opposed to banging the ball inside and attacking the rim.

Rebound!

New York outrebounded Seattle, 46-26. The Liberty are much bigger inside and should dominate the glass.

Where to watch: The game will be televised on MSG+ and is also available on WNBA Live Access.

At The Game:

The Liberty will host Inspiring Women Night and will also honor the retiring Tina Thompson before the game.

During the hours of 2-5pm the Liberty are putting on an Entry Level Internship Fair! Meet and greet with professionals in your field of interest, including representatives from marketing, sales, advertising, public relations, finance and more! Register Now
