Plenette's Mother's Day Reflection
I am inspired by my mother, Paulette Pierson. As a mother of two, she worked hard for us; we didn't know that we didn't have a lot. Even though she had to work a lot, I recall her never missing an AAU tournament. She was always at games. She was always there. She is the true definition of a strong woman.
I understand my mom a lot better, now. When I was younger I used to see some of my peers who didn't have a consistent mom-figure get to do whatever they wanted. Not Plenette. I was on lock-down. Now that I'm older, I appreciate her presence and watchful eye.
I remember one Christmas in particular, we never had much money, but this year was tight. We didn't know if we were going to have a Christmas. My little brother and I were sad. We didn't have a tree. There wasn't much that resembled "Christmas time" in our house but my mom managed to squeeze out one gift. Just one special gift. She got me a cell phone! I was in the eighth grade or so and a cell phone was a special gift. However mom did it, she found a way to make Christmas feel like Christmas.
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!
Plenette Pierson and the New York Liberty wish all mothers and mom-figures a Happy Mother's Day filled with laughs, love, thanks and admiration!
