Overseas Update - 3/01

Leilani Mitchell and Arras hosted Chevakata of Russia in Game 1 of Eurocup Semifinals. Arras was able to pull off the close win at home by coming from behind and winning, 67-66. Leilani added 12 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists in the French teamís victory. Arras will now travel to Russia to play Chevakata on March 3.

In Italian League play, Janel McCarville and Famila Schio continued their winning ways by defeating Basket Parma, 77-69. Schio now advances to 16-1 on the season. Janel scored 6 points and 7 rebounds in 20 minutes of play. She is now averaging 10.9 points and 8.1 rebounds per game. Next up for Schio is Sophia Young and 4th place Cras Taranto on March 2 and Nicole Ohlde and Umana Reyer on March 6th.

Sidney Spencer and Priolo continued the Liberty wins in Italy this week by defeating Vomero Napoli 74-50. Sidney added 7 points in the Priolo win. Next up is Pool Comense on March 6.

Big congratulations to Kia Vaughn and Elitzur Ramla of Israel this week for a big Eurocup win over Athinaikos of Greece as well as a important win over Elitzur Holon of Israel. Ramla defeated Elitzur Holon for the 3rd time in this round, 88-53. Kia had a big game with 23 points and 19 rebounds in the win! Next up for Ramla is Athinaikos for Game 2.

Cappie Pondexter and UMMC Ekaterinburg won twice this week in Euroleague play by defeating Taranto of Italy. In the latest game, played on Feb 25, Cappie 8 points and 4 rebounds as Taranto seemed to have no answer for Ekaterinburg who ended up winning 74-32. Ekaterinburg will now advance to the Final Four of the Euroleague. There next game will be back in Russian League play where they will face Dynamo Kursk.

Plenette Pierson and Tarsus defeated Mersin in a Turkish League matchup, 58-54. Tarsus was able to secure the home win while Plenette contributed 12 points and 7 rebounds. Next up for Tarsus is Burhaniye on March 5th. Plenette is now averaging 17.8 points and 8.1 rebounds per game.

Nicole Powell returned to play this week in Euroleague play with Wisla Can-Pack Krakow. The team from Poland faced Perfumerias Avenida from Spain. In game 1 of the Quarterfinal matchup, Nicole scored 12 points and grabbed 5 boards in the 70-87 loss. Wisla Can-Pack wasnít able to pull out a win in game two as they fell 72-60. Nicole scored 8 points in the series-ending loss. Perfumerias Avenidas has many familiar WNBA names. Sancho Lyttle and Erika DeSouza of the Atlanta Dream and Belinda Snell former member of the Phoenix Mercury and now Seattle Storm decorate their roster. Nicole will return to Polish League play this week against CCC Polkowice.
