Overseas Update - 4/05


Leilani Mitchell and 8th place Arras of France lost this week in French league play. Arras fell to Bourges 62-68 on April 2nd in Round 25 of league play. Leilani had 16 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in the loss. Arras will play Mondeville on April 9th as their French season winds down.

Janel McCarville and first place Famila Schio got their first win in the Quarter-Finals of Italian League playoffs. They defeated Faenza 68-41. Janel scored 12 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the win. They will face Faenza in game 2 on April 6th.

Sidney Spencer and Priolo fell to Taranto, 81-61, in their first game on the Quarter-Finals of Italian League playoffs. Sidney had 13 points and 7 rebounds. Game 2 between the two teams will take place on April 6th.

Nicole Powell and 1st place Wisla Can-Pak defeated Lotos Gdynia, 90-72, completing the sweep in the Semi-Finals of Polish League playoffs. Nicole had 12 points in the victory. Wisla Can-Pak will play April 9th in the Finals.

Kalana Greene and 2nd place CCC Polkowice are tied in their semi-finals series against Gorzow. On April 1 CCC Polkowice lost 49-67 in game 3. Kalana had 4 points and 3 rebounds. In game 4, they also fell, 55-66. The deciding game 5 will take place on April 5.

Cappie Pondexter and UMMC Ekaterinburg advanced to Russian league semifinals by defeating Spartak St. Petersburg in game 2, 88-49. Cappie had 12 points and 7 rebounds in the win. The semi-finals will begin on April 14th versus Dynamo K. The delay in the semi-finals start date is due to the fact that Cappie and UMMC will face Spartak V MR in the Euroleague Semi-Finals on April 8th.

Plenette Pierson and Tarsus Bld saw their season end as they fell to Botas in Turkish League playoffs. In the deciding game 3, Tarsus came up short, 54-64. Plenette had 16 points and 10 rebounds in the losing effort.

Kia Vaughn and Elitzur Ramla of Israel finished out their Semi-Finals by defeating Ramat Hen 92-83. Kia scored 18 points and grabbed 13 boards in the win. They moved on to face Maccabi Ashdod on April 4th in the first game of the Israel Finals. They were able to pull off the win, 73-64. Kia had 6 points and 8 rebounds in the win, and the team will play game 2 on April 7th.
