Colorado Native Joins Liberty on Seven-Day Contract

NEW YORK, NY – August 5, 2013– New York Liberty Head Coach and General Manager Bill Laimbeer announced today that the team has signed free agent guard Janeesa “Chucky” Jeffery to a seven-day contract. Jeffery replaces Samantha Prahalis, who’s second-consecutive seven-day contract expired on Sunday.

Jeffery was a second round pick (24th overall) of the Minnesota Lynx in the 2013 WNBA Draft. She played in two preseason games and was waived by the Lynx on May 22 prior to start of the regular season.

Jeffery attended the University of Colorado where she led the Buffaloes in scoring (13.7 ppg), assists (4.0 apg), rebounds (8.2 rpg) and steals (2.2) as a senior. She ranked fourth in the Pac-12 in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.3), fifth in both assists and steals, sixth in rebounding and double-doubles (10), and ninth in scoring. Jeffery was an AP All-American Honorable Mention and two-time All-Pac-12 selection.
