Moore Begins Overseas Play

This month, the Vologda-Chevakata club in Russia announced the signing of Liberty guard Loree Moore. Moore is joining a strong squad that is en route to the 16-team playoff tournament in the 2008 EuroCup. As a team, Chevakata leads the EuroCup in points per game, and also ranks in the Top 10 for field goal percentage and rebounds per game.

Europe is not exactly “foreign” territory for Moore in the WNBA off-season, as last year she suited up for Galatasaray Istanbul in Turkey. She averaged an impressive 12.7 points, 7.2 rebounds and 3.6 assists per contest. She led the league in steals with 3.2 per game.

In her first overseas match on January 4 against Moscow’s Dynamo, Moore posted five points, three assists, three rebounds and two steals in 30 minutes.

Chevakata has previously carried Liberty players on its roster when Elena Baranova and Lisa Willis competed during the 2007 season.

Playoff action for Moore and Chevakata begins with a match against the KK Hemofarm Vrsac on January 9.
