Go Behind-The-Scenes at Liberty Training Camp and Media Day

Many of the Liberty players returned from an off-season filled with vacations, overseas play, finishing up their collegiate degrees and coaching stints. But it was back to business on Sunday when the 2007 squad reported to the Madison Square Garden Training Center for Training Camp.

This year’s Liberty squad will be younger than previous groups, but the youthful energy and enthusiasm of the players will help create a season of learning and building for the future. And the team’s vigor was alive and well at Training Camp, as players old and new got acquainted on and off the court.

Despite having a young roster, the Liberty players and coaches are up for the challenges they face this season, and guard Erin Thorn is helping to lead that charge. As she enters her fifth season in New York, she told NYLiberty.com, “I’m looking forward to taking this team through the ropes for a successful season.”

The work continued on Monday for the team with a morning practice, followed by the Liberty’s annual Media Day. Donning their new uniforms, Liberty players and coaches took the court to meet with members of the New York-area press to discuss the upcoming season.

Already looking to make an immediate impact is the Liberty rookie class consisting of Jessica Davenport, Tiffany Jackson and Shay Doron. “I’m ready to go out there and play my game,” said Davenport, a 2nd overall pick in the Draft. When discussing her excitement for playing in New York, forward Tiffany Jackson replied, “I don’t think words can express the feelings I have right now.”

See the Liberty rookies make their WNBA debut during the preseason match-up against the Houston Comets at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, May-12 at 2pm.
