Preview Future WNBA Stars In “The World’s Most Famous Arena”

The New York Liberty is inviting its fans to be part of a great cause at The Garden on Saturday, December 8th. The Inaugural 2007 Maggie Dixon Classic will feature future stars of the WNBA from four of the country’s best women's college basketball teams.

This special event will honor the memory of Maggie Dixon, the former Head Coach of the Army Women's Basketball team, who passed away of a congenital heart ailment at the age of 28 – just weeks after leading Army to their first ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

The Classic will feature a thrilling double-header: Duke vs. Pittsburgh and Rutgers vs. Army, beginning at noon. Tickets start at $15 and are on sale now!

A portion of the proceeds from the event will go to benefit the C.A.R.E. Foundation – an organization that works to fund research and raise awareness of sudden cardiac death due to acquired heart disease and inherited rhythm disorders. C.A.R.E. will offer a free heart screening for any child or teenager attending the Classic.

Check out the C.A.R.E. website, CAREforhearts.org, for more details and to pre-register for the screening. Pre-registration is required and the screening will be limited to the first 500 applicants.
