NEW YORK LIBERTY HOSTS “BREAST HEALTH AWARENESS NIGHT” PRESENTED BY DELTA AIR LINES ON TUESDAY, JULY 29
Evening Benefits the Breast Cancer Research Foundation
NEW YORK, NY – July 25, 2014 – As part of the WNBA’s Breast Health Awareness Week, the New York Liberty will host “Breast Health Awareness Night,” presented by Delta Air Lines, at 7 p.m. on July 29 at Madison Square Garden. The Liberty will take on the Washington Mystics, and the first 5,000 fans will receive a beach towel courtesy of Delta Air Lines.
To help raise funds for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, there will be two auctions conducted the day of the game. A live auction will take place at a pre-game “Pink Ribbon” reception for season ticket holders. This will be followed, during the game, by a silent auction on the Madison Concourse, where fans will have the chance to win limited edition autographed items, such as authentic game worn pink Liberty jerseys, sneakers, VIP experiences, concert tickets, Delta Air Lines tickets and more. In addition to this, a portion of every dollar spent at concession stands throughout Madison Square Garden will be donated to BCRF.
“We are excited to join Delta Air Lines in support of breast cancer awareness by hosting Breast Health Awareness Night again this year,” said Kristin Bernert, Liberty Vice President. “Breast Health Awareness Night is our opportunity to help raise funds and awareness for a health issue that is prevalent in our society and directly affects a large portion of our community.”
“Breast cancer awareness is a cause that is important to the Delta family, as unfortunately, it is a disease that has touched both our employees and our customers,” said Gail Grimmett, Delta’s senior vice president – New York. “Since 2005, Delta’s employees, customers and their friends and families have raised $7.95 million for BCRF, with more than $1.25 million raised last year alone. Delta’s contributions have funded the vital work of 18 different research projects over the years in the pursuit of eradicating breast cancer. We’re proud to partner with the Liberty to continue the fight.”
During halftime of the game, the Liberty and Delta will recognize the strength and perseverance of breast cancer survivors in an on-court ceremony.
