Congrats To Lady Liberty Wheelchair Squad

The National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA) women's division†is coming off of a successful season, and held its East Regional Tournament in Queens recently. One of only three regional tournaments across the country, the NWBA†hosted six teams; the Lady Liberty, the University of Arizona, the New York Nets, the New York Rolliní Knicks, the Nassau Kings and the Bulova Nets.

The featured game saw the Lady Liberty face off against the University of Arizona.†With a bid for the National Championships in Denver on the line, the Lady Liberty battled hard through the first half and remained close.†Unable to hold off the young and talented team from Arizona in the second half, the Lady Liberty eventually dropped the game, 55-28 and finished in second place.

Members of the Lady Liberty received individual awards for the performance in the Tournament. Jillian Marks won a Class I All-Tournament Award,†Kelly Loth received an All-Tournament Award for Class II and Cacsmy Brutus received the Freddy Jones Sportsmanship Award.

The Liberty would like to extend a hearty congratulations (and high fives all around!) to the NWBA and its†athletes for their achievements this past season.
