Liberty Sign Ewelina Kobryn

NEW YORK, NY – April 06, 2011 - The New York Liberty has signed unrestricted free agent Ewelina Kobryn, it was announced today by General Manager and Head Coach John Whisenant. As per team policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Overseas, Kobryn has played for TS Wilsa Can-Pack Krakow in the Poland Women’s Basketball League (PLKK) for four seasons. Kobryn began her sports career at 17 with Wilsa Krakow in the 2002. She was later traded to for Lotos Gdynia, also in the PLKK, for three seasons before rejoining Wilsa Krakow in 2007. The Polish national currently owns a 14.1 ppg and 5.7 rpg the 2010-2011 season and a 10.5 ppg and 7.4 rpg for the national team. At Wilsa Krakow, Kobryn advanced to the Final Four in the 2010 Euroleague Championship and won the PLKK Championship.

Kobryn joins the Liberty for their first season at Prudential Center this summer. New York Liberty home games will be played at Prudential Center in Newark, NJ for the next three seasons while Madison Square Garden undergoes a comprehensive, top-to-bottom transformation. The Garden will close for the next three summers for work on the transformation to be completed.

Also announced today, current Liberty player Sidney Spencer has been signed for the 2011 Training Camp this May.
