New York Faces Indiana on Tuesday

On Tuesday, June 5th, the New York Liberty will host Tamika Catchings, former Liberty player Tamika Whitmore and the Indiana Fever in Madison Square Garden, beginning at 7:30PM EST. The Liberty and Fever stand as two of the three unbeaten teams currently in the WNBA, with four wins a piece. New York is off to its second best season start since the 1997 inaugural campaign!

The Liberty possess a 7-5 record against Indiana when they play in Madison Square Garden. In the match-up on Tuesday, New York will greet Whitmore, who spent her first five seasons (1999-2003) of the WNBA in a Liberty uniform. She is ranked in the Top 10 on the Liberty's all-time franchise leader-board 11 times.

The game will also feature four former players from one of college basketball’s most well-rivalries, the University of Tennessee and the University of Connecticut. The Liberty’s Loree Moore (’05) and the Fever’s Tamika Catchings (’01) played for Pat Summit’s Lady Vols and the Liberty's Ashley Battle (’05) and the Fever’s Ann Strother (’06) were Huskies under Geno Auriemma.

New York wraps up its three-game home stand on Friday evening against the defending WNBA Champion Detroit Shock at 7:30PM.
