Recognizing women who make a positive impact in our communities on June 16

New York Liberty Honors Inspiring Women

NEW YORK, June 14 2006 — On Friday, June 16, the New York Liberty will honor women from the four branches of the military, corporate executives from the metropolitan area, and the 2006 New Jersey Girl’s Basketball State Champions in a special Inspiring Women halftime ceremony during the Liberty-Houston Comets game. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM.

In celebrating the ten-year anniversary of the WNBA and looking ahead to another great decade of growth and popularity for the sport, the league and the New York Liberty first partnered for the Inspiring Women luncheon at Madison Square Garden on April 27. At the luncheon, successful women from throughout the New York area were acknowledged for their commitment to raising the game both on and off the court. These women, along with other local women who make a positive impact in our communities, have been invited to attend Friday night’s game.

“Every time the players of the WNBA take the court, generations of girls and women take one step closer to their own goals,” said Carol Blazejowski, Liberty GM and Senior Vice President. “The New York Liberty take pride in celebrating the accomplishments of women who have helped raise the game for everyone and we are pleased to honor some of these women at halftime on Friday night.”
