New York Liberty Acquire Quanitra Hollingsworth

NEW YORK, NY – May 27, 2011 - The New York Liberty have acquired center Quanitra Hollingsworth from Minnesota in exchange for the right to swap third round draft picks in the 2012 WNBA Draft, it was announced today by Head Coach and General Manager John Whisenant.

Hollingsworth is in her third season out of Virginia Commonwealth University. The 6-5 forward was selected by Minnesota with the ninth overall pick in the 2009 WNBA Draft. Last season, she posted 1.7 points and 1.8 rebounds in 34 games for the Lynx. She possesses career averages of 3.5 points and 2.6 rebounds in 59 games.

The former Freshman All-American had an illustrious career at Virginia Commonwealth University, earning two Second Team All-CAA honors and CAA Defensive Player of the Year honors as a senior. Hollingsworth finished her collegiate career as VCU’s all-time leading rebounder with 1,114 rebounds and second in scoring with 1,523 points.

Liberty fans will be able to watch the team in action at the regular season home-opener against the Indiana Fever at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on Saturday, June 11 at 7pm.
