The Golden Maddies: Results Are In!

Cue the cheesy awards show music, ladies and gentlemen, because the results are in for NYLiberty.com's first annual Golden Maddie Awards! With the biggest awards show of them all, the Oscars, taking place in February, we decided to take a page from Hollywood and try out our own version. Throughout the month, we created categories based on the Oscars and left the voting up to you, our loyal fans.

Unlike the Academy Awards, our ceremony won't stretch beyond four hours, be filled with boring acceptance speeches or have Ryan Seacrest asking awkward questions with fake enthusiasm. That's no way to be. We will lay it out for you right here, right now! Quick, simple ... you're welcome. NYLiberty.com is proud to announce the following results:

Sexy Back, Timeless Torches
The Timeless Torches show that you don't have to be young to be a Liberty fan, just young at heart. This group made an impact on Opening Day by performing a routine to the tune of Justin Timberlake's Sexy Back. The Torches remain to be one of the hottest acts of the WNBA and receive a standing ovation to a packed house at the Verizon Center while showing off their moves at the 2007 WNBA All-Star Game in Washington, D.C.

Thorn At The Buzzer
No stranger to buzzer beaters (having notched two in one game in 2006), the Liberty's young veteran evens the season series at 2-2 against its toughest Eastern Conference rival, the Detroit Shock on August 12. Trailing by one point with 3.3 seconds remaining in regulation, Thorn dribbles to the elbow and pops an off-balance jumper. The rest is history.
