LIBERTY BLOG SQUAD: Assistant Coach Nick DiPillo
Just wanted to take a few minutes to share some thoughts about our season opener against Chicago and a quick preview ahead to our game this Thursday against Washington.
Although we did not open the game as well as we would have liked, the team everyone saw in the second half is what you can expect from us this year!
Our defensive focus was led by Barb Farris, who came off the bench to score eight points and grab two rebounds. Erin Thorn knocked down just about every open look she got, Shameka Christon found her shooting touch in the 2nd half, and Loree Moore really got us going by pushing the ball in transition. Starting this season off on the right foot is definitely a goal of ours and by winning on Opening night, we're on the right track.
Thursday's game against Washington should be a good one as well. Do you have your tickets yet? Whenever New York and Washington get together, you can expect an exciting game. Though its superstar Alana Beard has been battling the injury bug, the Mystics are not short on talent. With Delisha Milton-Jones, Chasity Melvin, among others, they are very capable to carry the load for Washington. Regardless of who suits up for them, you can expect that the new-look Liberty will be ready to build upon our opening night victory.
I hope you can come out to join us as we play in this matinee match-up. Tip-off begins at 11:00AM in Madison Square Garden. What better way to spend a Thursday afternoon in New York City?

With the 2007 season underway, assistant coach Nick DiPillo is entering his third season on the Liberty sidelines. Since being named assistant coach in 2005, he has helped to guide the team to its seventh playoff berth in nine years. In his role with the Liberty, Nick's main responsibilities are player development, game preparation and scouting. He also assists in planning practices and individual player workouts.
