Johnson EuroLeague Player of the Week

New York, NY - November 9, 2005 - Last week Vickie Johnson went head-to-head with Liberty teammate Ann Wauters in Europe, where not only did she walk away with a win for her team, but also with an EuroLeague honor. After leading her MiZo-Pecs team to an 80-68 win over Wauters' VBM-SGAU, Johnson was named the EuroLeague Player of the Week. She posted 12 points, 10 rebounds and six assists in the victory, which ended VBM-SGAU's 19-game winning streak, dating back to last season.

Johnson is off to a successful start in EuroLeague competition. She has played a significant role in MiZo-Pecs beginning the season 2-0, the only unbeaten team in Group A of the EuroLeague. Johnson is averaging 14 points, 8.5 rebounds and five assists per game so far. Besides the win over VBM-SGAU, last season's champion, Pecs also defeated Ros Casares, 77-64.

Despite coming up on the losing end, Wauters made her mark in the game agains Pecs. She was the highest scorer in the contest with 19 points. Wauters has led VBM-SGAU to a 2-1 start on the season, while averaging 18.7 ppg and 6.7 rpg.
