The Not-So-Off-Season

New York, NY - May 5, 2005 The last several months may have been the off-season in terms of the Liberty players not actually playing for the team. But it was by no means an off time for them, as they spent their days and weeks playing overseas, working out and honing their skills, all in preparation for this Saturday, when the 2005 campaign tips off with pre-season competition.

Vickie Johnson worked out with two former ABA players, concentrating on shooting, defense and one-on-one moves.

Amisha Carter lifted weights and played in the NWBL.

Monique Coker worked on her three-point shot, ball handling and driving.

Erin Thorn worked out four times a week with a trainer and played as much basketball as possible.

K.B. Sharp played overseas and trained hard.

La'Keshia Frett worked out with a personal trainer.

Becky Hammon played in the NWBL, worked out and let her injuries heal.

DeTrina White was in the weight room and did extra shooting and cardio after practice while playing overseas.

The Liberty players will attest that there is no rest for the weary. All the weight lifting, running, and playing will pay off Saturday, as the quest for the 2005 WNBA Championship begins.
