Phillips Suffers Fractured Right Hand

(Los Angeles, CA) – June 29, 2004 — During practice on Monday, June 28, 2004 in Los Angeles, New York Liberty center Tari Phillips fractured the fifth metacarpal of her right hand. The injury will sideline her for a minimum of four weeks.

The four-time WNBA All-Star, who is in her sixth WNBA season, was averaging 6.7 ppg and 5.4 rpg.

New York begins its second half of a four-game road trip tonight against the Los Angeles Sparks. New York is currently 1-1 on the road trip, losing to the Phoenix Mercury 72-60 and beating the Seattle Storm 67-62. New York will complete the road trip with a game against the Sacramento Monarchs on Thursday, July 1st. Tonight’s contest versus the Sparks will be broadcast live on Metro TV. The Monarchs game will be on WWRL 1600 AM.
