Liberty Players Continue Foreign Domination

New York, NY - April 29, 2005 - While the majority of Liberty players are in training camp in Tarrytown, NY, those that are still overseas are playing dominant roles for their respective teams. Shameka Christon and Crystal Robinson just won the Israeli Championship with their team, Elizur Ramla. Currently two Liberty ladies are even leading their foreign teams against one another.

Ann Wauters' VBM-SGAU SAMARA is facing Elena Baranova's Dynamo Moscow in the Russian Finals. Game One saw Wauters come out on top in a 76-45 victory. The 6'4" center scored 13 points in 23 minutes of action. She was nearly perfect from the floor, hitting six of her seven field goal attempts. Wauters added eight rebounds in the effort. Baranova will look to avenge Friday's loss as the Dynamo face Wauters and SAMARA in Game Two on Saturday.

Meanwhile, in Italy, Bethany Donaphin is leading her team, Schio, in the Italian League playoffs. Schio defeated Acer Priolo 2-0 to advance to the next round of the playoffs. In Game One, the 6'2" forward scored 20 points in 37 minutes of action. She was 9-15 from the field and 2-2 from the free throw line in the 70-64 win. She also recorded six rebounds. In the decisive Game Two, Schio defeated Acer Priolo, 78-75, to advance to the next round, which begins May 4.
