Liberty Guard Williams Suffers Injury
—Second-Year Guard will Miss Remainder of 2014 Season with Torn Right ACL—

NEW YORK—New York Liberty guard Kamiko Williams will miss the remainder of the 2014 WNBA season with a torn right anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), head coach and general manager Bill Laimbeer today announced. Williams suffered the injury to her right knee on Tuesday, May 6 during training camp.
Williams was selected by the Liberty in the second round (15th overall) of the 2013 WNBA Draft. She appeared in all 34 games last season, earning 18 starts. Williams averaged 2.6 points and 2.1 rebounds per game.
Williams was coming off a strong season overseas in which she averaged 15.8 points and 8.1 rebounds per game for Elitzur Maclaren Holon of the Israeli League.
New York opens regular season action against Connecticut on Friday, May 16 at 7 p.m. at Mohegan Sun Arena. The Liberty will then make their long awaited return to the transformed Madison Square Garden to host Chicago on Opening Night on Saturday, May 17 at 8 p.m.
