From the Court to the Clipboard

This off-season, nyliberty.com has kept you in touch with some of your favorite players. Among others, you've heard from Ashley Battle in Spain and Cathrine Kraayeveld in Belgium - next up, Erin Thorn in...Utah. While several of her Liberty teammates are playing overseas this off-season, the fourth-year guard has returned once again to her alma mater, Brigham Young University, to serve as an assistant coach for the women's basketball team. Thorn is in her third year on the Cougars sideline, and has volunteered to check in regularly with nyliberty.com as she transitions from the court to the clipboard.

Hey fans, it's Erin again. Well, we're halfway though the college season and our team is doing pretty well. At the moment, we are 10-4, 1-0 in the conference. I am actually on a bus headed to the airport as we speak. We are flying out to New Mexico for a big game in "The Pit." We haven't won there in a while, so wish us luck!

A lot outside of basketball has happened this past month. With the holidays there is always something going on. I had a great Christmas break! I was able to drive down to Las Vegas and watch our football team beat the Oregon Ducks (sorry, Kraayeveld!) in the Las Vegas Bowl. I also got to spend time with some of my favorite people. It was fun, but a short trip.

My sister and her husband came home for the holidays from Pennsylvania. They got to spend thee weeks here in Utah and I definitely enjoyed having them around. The whole family came over to our parents' house on Christmas Eve for dinner and a gift exchange. After the party, some of us stayed to play games, watch movies, and have a Christmas Eve sleepover - just like the good ol' days of our youth. Even mom and dad stayed up with us!

In the morning, I got to have two Christmases. I had a few gifts at my parents' house, but Santa dropped off most of my presents at my place. I got everything I wanted and more, so I guess I must have been good last year!

The biggest news came the day after Christmas, when my boyfriend showed up on my doorstep and asked me to marry him! I now have a ring on my finger, and am still trying to get used to it. We don't have an exact date right now, but we are thinking sometime in September - after the Liberty season, of course!

I think that's about it for news in my life. Hope all is well in New York and hope it's not as cold there as it is in Utah!
