Kiesha Brown Signs with Liberty

New York, NY - February 28, 2006 - The New York Liberty has signed restricted free agent Kiesha Brown for the 2006 WNBA season. Liberty Senior Vice President and General Manager Carol Blazejowski made the announcement today.

Brown is a four-year WNBA veteran, having played for both the Washington Mystics and the Houston Comets. The 5’9” guard was most recently acquired by the Chicago Sky in the 2005 Expansion Draft. In 77 career games, she is averaging 2.5 points, 1.2 rebounds, and 1.0 assists in 10.1 minutes of action.

“Kiesha is a versatile addition to our backcourt,” said Blazejowski. “She has good size and can play both guard positions, shoot the three and is a solid defender. She will bring added depth and experience to the Liberty backcourt this season.”

Brown is currently playing professionally overseas in Spain for Hondarribia – Irun. In 25 games, she is averaging 12.6 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in 32.4 minutes.

A 2001 graduate of Georgia, Brown played in 111 games for the Bulldogs, averaging 4.5 points, 2.6 assists, and 2.6 rebounds.

As per team policy conditions of the contract were not released.
