Hammon to "Reach for the Stars"

New York, NY - January 11, 2006 - The Liberty and its players always recognize the importance of giving back and setting a good example, and tomorrow Becky Hammon will exemplify that. The Liberty guard will join Bloomingdale's and Mentoring USA in celebrating National Mentoring Month tomorrow, January 12. The department store will host a special window dedication to commemorate its partnership with Mentoring USA and the significance mentors play in the lives of kids today.

Bloomingdale's Chairman and CEO Michael Gould will unveil the Lexington & 60th Street window to the children of PS 59, followed by a 'thank you' breakfast for them afterwards. The theme of this year's window is "Reach for the Stars!" Bloomingdale's executives have been mentoring at PS 59 for the past eight years through Mentoring USA's program at the school. Mentees from the school were asked to draw the qualities their mentors help them strive for in life, such as perseverence and good sportsmanship. Tomorrow they will see their work on display for all of New York.

Hammon will be joined by Kissy Simmons, Nala in the Broadway version of "The Lion King," in celebrating mentoring with Bloomingdale's and Mentoring USA. The two stars will talk to the mentees about the role mentors have played in their lives and in helping them become successful.

Mentoring USA is New York City's largest site-based, one-to-one mentoring program. For further information, log onto www.mentoringusa.org.
