Hey Now, You’re An All-Star
The Eastern and Western Conference starting lineups are voted on by the fans. Hammon was the second highest vote-getter amongst guards in the East, which earned her a spot on the starting five. She will be joined by Indiana's Tamika Catchings, Detroit's Swin Cash and Ruth Riley, and Charlotte's Dawn Staley. They will go up against West starters Sheryl Swoopes (Houston), Lauren Jackson (Seattle), Sue Bird (Seattle), Diana Taurasi (Phoenix) and Yolanda Griffith (Sacramento).
Anne Donovan of the Seattle Storm and Mike Thibault of the Connecticut Sun will coach the West and East All-Stars, respectively. The head coaches from each conference will now pick the remaining All-Star players, which will be announced on July 5.
This will be Hammon's third appearance at the mid-summer classic. Last year she was a member of the WNBA Select Team that went up against Team USA in The Game at Radio City Music Hall. In 2003 Hammon was selected as an All-Star by WNBA coaches for the first time in her career, but did not play due to an injury.
