On The Liberty Beat
On The Liberty Beat

I never thought I would find myself sitting in the best row - Press Row - watching the New York Liberty vs. the Connecticut Sun. Even though the Sun won, 72-65 (and I’m a huge Liberty fan, so it was a tough loss), for me it was the best game ever. During the game, I had the best seat in the house, right under the basket and next to the Connecticut Sun bench. It was a wonderful experience. Since I was so close to the court, sometimes I could even hear what the players were yelling to each other on the floor!
Before the game I had the opportunity to interview Shameka Christon and DeTrina White. I also had the chance to talk to Crystal Robinson out on the court. When I interviewed Shameka and DeTrina, I asked them how they mentally and physically prepare for a game. Shameka said to mentally prepare she watches film of her opponents and to physically prepare she eats well. DeTrina said to prepare mentally for a game she gets plenty of rest and to prepare physically she does cardio workouts to stay in game shape.
Watching the game from Press Row was a great once in a lifetime experience and if I had the opportunity to do it again I would most definitely do it!
You can get this kind of "once in a lifetime experience" too - keep an eye out next season for Cheering for Children auctions at select Liberty games.
