2006 Marks Liberty's 10th Anniversary

A Season to Celebrate

Over the past nine years, each new WNBA season has brought with it a sense of excitement. How will the Liberty do, who will be the breakout star on the team? Another chance to drive for the Championship. Well now as the 2006 season dawns, there is not only that thrilling sense of anticipation, but of achievement as well. Because 2006 is not just another Liberty season. It is the 10th season. This year the Liberty celebrates its 10th Anniversary.

And there is plenty to celebrate. Ten years of heart-stopping basketball action and players you came to think of as family. Ten years of blood, sweat and tears. Ten years of sitting on the edge of your seat at The Garden. Ten years of loyalty.

On October 30, 1996, New York was named a charter member of the Women's National Basketball Association. Then on June 21, 1997, the Liberty tipped off not only its first season but the league's as well. Now on May 20, 2006, the Liberty will set off on its historic 10th season.

Historic because 10 years ago some questioned if we would even make it to a fifth anniversary, let alone a 10th. Historic because the WNBA is the only professional women's league to exist for 10 years. Historic because as we begin our 10th season, the sky is the limit for the future.

And from the very beginning through the onset of the upcoming season, our dedicated fans have been with us every step of the way. So our 10th Anniversary is as much about you as it is about us. It is quite an accomplishment that we have all made it this far. And we are extremely proud to have you along with us for the journey.

Be a part of the celebration all year long! From now through the end of the season, nyliberty.com will be commemorating 10 years of Liberty basketball. So join us here, as well as celebrate with us in person - ticket plans are now available for our 10th Anniversary season. To get yours, call 212-465-6073 or purchase here on nyliberty.com.
