2010 Regular Season Schedule Has Arrived
“As one of the WNBA’s original franchises, we are proud to be tipping off our 14th season at Madison Square Garden next summer,” said team President and General Manager, Carol Blazejowski. “We look forward to providing our loyal fans with a competitive, up-tempo brand of basketball, in a fun-filled atmosphere that has made the Liberty experience second to none.”
The season will open in front of the team’s home crowd at Madison Square Garden for the third consecutive year and sixth time in franchise history, when Hall of Fame Head Coach Anne Donovan leads the Liberty squad against the Chicago Sky on Sunday, May 16.
Highlights of the 17-game schedule at The Garden include two Friday night showdowns with two New York natives, beginning with Chamique Holdsclaw and the Atlanta Dream on June 11, followed by Sue Bird and the Seattle Storm on June 18. WNBA All-Star Tamika Catchings and the reigning Eastern Conference Champion Indiana Fever will make their first appearance of the summer on Sunday, July 18. The league’s oldest rivalry will take place on Friday, July 30 when Candace Parker and the Los Angeles Sparks make their only regular season visit. The defending WNBA Champion Phoenix Mercury with WNBA MVP Diana Taurasi will invade The World’s Most Famous Arena on Saturday, August 14. The regular season will wrap in the Big Apple on Sunday, August 22 when the Liberty will host UConn alumna Asjha Jones and Eastern Conference rival, the Connecticut Sun.
New York is scheduled to be featured in two nationally televised games on ESPN2 next summer, that includes the July 20th game in Connecticut and the July 27th game versus San Antonio.
