As players are beginning to part ways en route to off-season endeavors, NYLiberty.com is handing in its season homework – a final report, which takes a look back at how each member of the team faired this summer. Today’s chapter of the report looks at forward Shameka Christon.
A PLAYOFF PRESENCE
Christon made her third appearance in the WNBA Playoffs this season, when the Liberty faced the Shock in the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals … She led the team in scoring with 14.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists in the three-game series … Christon recorded her first Playoff career double-double in Game One, netting 16 points and pulling down 15 boards … Her damage on the glass tied a franchise Playoff record for most rebounds in one game.
SHINE ON IN THE SUN
Christon turned in season highs during the leg of the Liberty’s second to last road trip of the regular season in Phoenix … Against the Mercury on August 9th, she tied her career high of 25 points and three-point field goals made (4) and topped her previous career-high of field goals made (9) … Christon also notes Phoenix as her favorite WNBA city to visit.
LEGEND IN THE MAKING
With just four seasons under her belt, Christon has worked her way onto the Liberty’s all-time franchise leader board … She appears in 13 out of 14 categories, including games played (7th, 134), minutes played (8th, 3,420), points scored (6th, 1,293), scoring average (tied 8th, 9.6), field goals made (tied 6th, 432), field goals attempts (6th, 1,135), free throws made (5th, 290), free throws attempts (5th, 364), three-point field goals made (4th, 139), three-point field goal attempts (4th, 446), rebounds (10th, 429), assists (8th, 178) and blocked shots (4th, 89).
