2007 Season: In The Community
Players Team Up With Garden of Dreams Foundation To Make a Difference

Despite juggling a busy schedule during the summer months, the Liberty can always find plenty of time for helping out those in need. The following is a rundown of the community events that players participated in on behalf of The Garden of Dreams Foundation for the Summer of 2007.

May 30
Hospital Visit
Fareri Children's Hospital at Westchester Medical Center
Barbara Farris and Ashley Battle visited with groups of children, participating in arts and crafts projects when first arriving and eventually making the rounds through the floor for bedside visits. After the players completed their tour of the children’s wing handing out goodie bags, they found themselves in an empty play area. Hospital staff then took in an impromptu performance of “Lady Marmalade” from Farris and Battle after they found the karaoke machine.

After a tough day at practice, Shameka Christon and Loree Moore traveled to New Jersey to visit with boys and girls of all ages at the children’s hospital of the Hackensack University Medical Center. Christon and Moore signed autographs, delivered goodie bags and chatted with the patients while making bedside visits.

July 19
Toy Delivery
NYU Rusk Institute
Despite it being mid-summer, Cathrine Kraayeveld and Tiffany Jackson took on the role of playing Santa Claus, delivering loads of toys to children at the NYU Rusk Institute. The toys were collected during the Liberty and Garden of Dreams Foundation’s “Toy Drive,” held before the team’s game on June 22nd.

July 24
Dream Day
Madison Square Garden Training Center
Liberty players and coaches played host to children and their parents from the Connecticut chapter of the Make A Wish Foundation at the Madison Square Garden Training Center. The special afternoon began with a personalized tour of the facility, through the locker room, players lounge and gym, followed by lunch. The children were also treated to an autograph and shoot-around session with the team.
