Liberty Tip-Off Read to Achieve

On Wednesday, July 16 the New York Liberty tipped off its 2003 Read-To-Achieve season with a special program at the Greenburgh Library. Liberty players Tamika Whitmore, Linda Frohlich, K.B. Sharp and Erin Thorn participated in a read along with approximately 75 children from the Greenburgh area.

The players read Allie's Basketball Dream by Barbara Barber, a story of a young girl who dreams of playing basketball one day at Madison Square Garden. In addition, the players discussed with the children the importance of fitness and healthy lifestyle choices.

Read-To-Achieve is an league-wide initiative that promotes literacy and education among children and their families.
