The Indiana Fever won the WNBA's first game played under the sky.
They haven't fared too poorly against the Chicago Sky, either.
After winning the league's first outdoor contest, the Fever look to sweep their season series with the Sky on Tuesday night.
Indiana (11-11) beat New York 71-55 on Saturday night in the Liberty Outdoor Classic, bouncing back from a home loss to Seattle the previous night. The outdoor game, played on a basketball court laid atop the tennis court at Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York, could provide a spark for a Fever club that's four games behind first-place Detroit in the Eastern Conference.
"This is hopefully a turning point for this team," Indiana guard Katie Douglas said. "I hope we can really enjoy this, really remember what it feels like and start building on this."
The Fever seem to have a good chance to do so, having won their first two games against the Sky (7-15) this season. They're 8-2 all-time versus Chicago.
The Sky have also lost five straight road games, including a 66-57 defeat to the Fever on July 12.
Indiana won that game even though star forward Tamika Catchings was held to five points. She had 15 points and nine rebounds Saturday after missing her previous game due to a sore right heel.
Catchings has a bruise on her right Achilles' tendon, which she partially tore in last year's playoffs. That injury required surgery and prevented her from playing in the Fever's first eight games.
Catchings, a member of the U.S. Olympic team, is averaging 10.6 points and 5.9 rebounds in 13 contests.
"We really needed a good game under our belts, and we had Catchings probably the most healthy that she has been," Indiana coach Lin Dunn said.
The Sky had won two of three, giving up 65.6 points per game, before losing 74-67 at Connecticut on Sunday. Chicago hasn't won on the road since July 1 and is 3-7 away from UIC Pavilion this season.
Reserve Armintie Price led the Sky with 15 points against the Sun. Jia Perkins had 14 points and five assists, Candice Dupree added 13 points and nine rebounds and Chasity Melvin had 10 points and 10 boards.
Perkins tops Chicago with 17.1 points and 1.9 steals a contest, but she was held to 10 points on 4-of-16 shooting against Indiana on July 12.
