The pressure will be off the Detroit Shock on Sunday after securing home-court advantage throughout the WNBA playoffs. That won't be the case for a New York Liberty team that's fighting just to make the postseason.

The clubs meet at Madison Square Garden on Sunday, as the Liberty look to catch Detroit unfocused following the Shock's clinching victory the day before.

The defending WNBA champion Shock (24-6) beat Indiana 74-69 on Saturday afternoon to wrap up the league's best record. Detroit outscored the Fever 28-9 in the third quarter, then held on in the final period after Indiana cut the lead to one with 41 seconds left.

Deanna Nolan made two free throws and the Shock held the Fever scoreless the rest of the way, winning a game in which they trailed by 10 at halftime and had a nine-point advantage going to the final period.

Nolan finished with 26 points - 18 in the second half - and 10 rebounds, while Katie Smith added 15 points, six boards and five assists. Detroit outrebounded Indiana 45-31 and outscored the Fever 32-14 in the paint to win their sixth straight.

"She is unstoppable when she gets in her zone," Shock coach Bill Laimbeer said of Nolan. "When she is on like that we just want to give her the ball as much as possible."

Three of the Shock's final four games are on the road, where Detroit has the league's best record at 12-2. With the top overall seed secured and those four contests coming over an eight-day stretch, Laimbeer is likely to give his reserves plenty of playing time.

That would be fine with the Liberty (12-17), who are struggling to make a run at a playoff spot. New York will be facing a team that has nothing to play for and will be playing the second of back-to-back games, but the Liberty have alternated wins and losses in the last four contests following a season-high seven-game losing streak.

They fell 97-86 to Phoenix on Thursday to drop two games behind fourth-place Washington with five remaining.

Janel McCarville had a career-high 25 points and 11 rebounds and Shameka Christon added 25 points for New York, but the Liberty couldn't complete a rally from a 13-point fourth-quarter deficit, cutting the deficit to four with 3:03 left but not getting any closer.

"I thought they were terrific tonight," coach Pat Coyle said. "We have to get everybody playing on all cylinders every night, we can't have a couple people just leading us, we have to get everybody."

New York returns home following a three-game road trip. The Liberty are 7-7 at MSG this season.

The Shock beat the Liberty 87-82 in overtime July 18 in the most recent meeting. Detroit leads the season series 2-1, with the last two contests going to an extra period.
