UNCASVILLE, Conn., July 17 (AP) -- Katie Douglas scored 15 of her 22 points in the second half to lead the Connecticut Sun to an 84-79 victory over the Minnesota Lynx on Tuesday night.
Lindsay Whalen added 20 points to give the Sun (10-11) their fourth consecutive victory.
Seimone Augustus had 24 points and Svetlana Abrosimova added 17 for Minnesota (5-17), which lost its seventh straight.
Douglas and Whalen combined for nine straight points in the fourth quarter, turning a one-point lead into a 80-70 advantage for the Sun.
Minnesota scored six unanswered points in less than two minutes to narrow the gap to 80-76. But a jumper by Nykesha Sales with 20.3 seconds to play gave Connecticut a 82-76 lead, and ended the Lynx's comeback hopes.
The Sun led 45-39 after the first half. The Lynx pulled within a single possession, but was unable to retake the lead it held in the game's opening minutes.
Connecticut took a 29-26 advantage out of a first quarter marked by seven lead changes and six ties. The Sun opened up their lead in the second quarter with a 9-0 run midway through the period, but Augustus kept Minnesota in the game.
