NEW YORK, July 8, 2007 (AP) -- Erin Thorn and Cathrine Kraayeveld scored 13 points apiece, leading the New York Liberty to a 71-61 victory over the Sacramento Monarchs on Sunday.

Loree Moore had 12 points and Shameka Christon added 10 for the Liberty (10-8), winners of three of four. After a stretch in which it lost eight of 11, New York has won consecutive games against last year's WNBA finals teams. The Liberty won 82-81 in overtime at Detroit on Friday night.

Rebekkah Brunson scored 18 points and Nicole Powell had 11 for Sacramento (12-7), which shot a season-low 32 percent and lost for the third time in five games.

The Monarchs opened the fourth quarter with a 12-3 run to pull to 66-57 on Powell's two free throws with 4:45 left.

However, Kraayeveld's driving layup nearly a minute later pushed the lead to 11, and the final margin was as close as Sacramento got the rest of the way.

The Liberty, playing at home for the first time in two weeks, closed the first quarter with a 16-0 run to take a 32-12 lead. New York, which shot 11-for-14 (79 percent) from the field in the quarter, was held to 15 points in the first half of a 59-46 loss at Sacramento on June 26.

Christon's two free throws with 1:04 left in the second quarter gave New York its biggest lead, 48-25, and exceeded the Liberty's point total from the first game.

New York led 48-28 at halftime.
