PHOENIX, June 7 (AP) -- Penny Taylor scored 19 of her 21 points in the first half, and grabbed nine rebounds to help the Phoenix Mercury snap a three-game losing streak with an 80-66 victory over the Chicago Sky on Thursday night.

Diana Taurasi added 22 points, and Cappie Pondexter had 18 for Phoenix (5-4), while the Mercury held Chicago leading scorer Candice Dupree to six points, 12 under her average, fourth-best in the WNBA. Dupree was 3-of-8 from the field and had nine rebounds, but sat out more than half of the first two quarters after picking up three fouls.

Chasity Melvin had 15 points and 11 rebounds, and Dominique Canty had 11 points for the second-year Sky (3-4).

Phoenix didn't allow Chicago to get closer than five in the final 5:37.

Chicago got into foul trouble early and Phoenix made 21 of 26 free throws. The Sky, the worst free-throw shooting team in the league at 66 percent, made just 15 of 25.
