AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Aug. 13 (Ticker) -- Deanna Nolan helped the Detroit Shock lock up home-court advantage for the first round of the playoffs.

Nolan scored 19 points as the Shock routed the Connecticut Sun, 88-65, in the regular-season finale for both teams.

Katie Smith added 18 points for Detroit (23-11), which secured the second seed in the Eastern Conference. The Shock will play the third-seeded Indiana Fever in the first round.

Shock center Cheryl Ford grabbed 12 rebounds to give her a league-record 363 on the year.

Detroit jumped out to a 26-10 lead after the first quarter and led comfortable thereafter against Connecticut, which did not have the services of star players Lindsay Whalen and Katie Douglas.

Taj McWilliams-Franklin scored 13 points to pace the Sun (26-8), who already had secured home-court advantage throughout the playoffs. The two-time reigning Eastern Conference champions will play the fourth-seeded Washington Mystics in the first round.
