INDIANAPOLIS, Aug. 13 (Ticker) -- Candice Dupree sparked the Chicago Sky to a positive finish to the team's first season.

Dupree scored 24 points and Amanda Lassiter added 17 for the Sky, who ended a seven-game losing streak with an 80-73 victory over the Indiana Fever in the regular-season finale for both teams.

After winning its season opener at Charlotte on May 20, Chicago (5-29) lost 15 straight on the road before finishing its inaugural campaign by defeating Indiana to avoid a three-game season series sweep.

Despite the loss, Indiana (21-13) locked up third place in the Eastern Conference when Detroit defeated Connecticut earlier Sunday. The Fever will face the Shock in the opening round of the playoffs beginning Thursday.

With the game tied, 45-45, the Sky took the lead for good with 4:18 left in the third quarter. Lassiter made a running jumper and a 3-pointer, Dupree hit a 15-footer and Bernadette Ngoyisa sank a layup during a 9-2 spurt.

Chicago kept the intensity up early in the fourth when Dupree hit a layup and Lassiter buried a pair of 3-pointers, widening the margin to 63-49 with 7:43 to go.

Dupree made 10-of-14 shots, Ngoyisa scored 15 points and Stacey Dales added 12 for the Sky, who shot nearly 55 percent (29-of-53) from the floor.

Tamika Whitmore, Tamika Catchings and Charlotte Smith scored 10 points apiece for Indiana, which lost for just the second time in six games.
