SAN ANTONIO, Aug. 12 (Ticker) -- With her postseason dreams dashed before the game even began, Diana Taurasi still put on a show.

Taurasi scored 16 of her 26 points in the first half and Kelly Miller contributed 20 and six assists as the Phoenix Mercury held on for a 95-93 triumph over the San Antonio Silver Stars.

Earlier Saturday, Phoenix officially was eliminated from the Western Conference playoff race when Houston locked up the fourth and final spot with a 17-point victory over Seattle.

Rookie Cappie Pondexter hit a running jumper in the lane to give the Mercury a 94-88 advantage with just over one minute remaining. The All-Star finished with 16 points.

Shanna Zolman's 3-pointer with 18 seconds left made it a three-point contest, but Miller split a pair of free throws three seconds later to seal the victory.

Penny Taylor and Kristen Rasmussen both scored 13 points for Phoenix, which shot 48 percent (37-of-77) from the field and scored 24 fastbreak points.

Shannon Johnson scored season-best 28 points and Katie Feenstra also set a season high with 24 for the Silver Stars, who shot 43 percent (33-of-76) in their season finale.
