WASHINGTON, Aug. 11 (Ticker) -- While the Washington Mystics are locked into the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs, they still were in no mood for the Detroit Shock to benefit at their expense.

DeLisha Milton-Jones scored 23 points and Alana Beard added 21 as the Mystics rallied for a 78-66 victory over the Shock.

With a win, Detroit (22-11) could have secured the second seed in the East. The Shock still can wrap up home-court advantage in the first round with a win over Connecticut on Sunday or one more loss by Indiana (21-12), which beat Connecticut earlier Friday.

Meanwhile, the Mystics (18-15) already were locked into a first-round matchup with the Sun but set a franchise record for victories, snapping the previous mark set in 2002.

Washington rallied from a 16-point first-half deficit thanks to a big third quarter from Milton-Jones, who scored 12 points as the Mystics outscored the Shock, 24-11.

Beard sealed the win with a steal and a layup with 1:20 to play that gave Washington a 72-63 lead.

Nakia Sanford had 11 points and 12 rebounds and Nikki Teasley scored 10 points for the Mystics, who won despite shooting under 43 percent (27-of-63) and committing 16 turnovers.

Katie Smith and Deanna Nolan scored 12 points apiece to pace Detroit, which shot only 35 percent (26-of-73) and was outrebounded, 41-33.
