UNCASVILLE, Conn., July 30 (Ticker) -- Asjha Jones kept the Connecticut Sun shining.

Jones scored 16 of her 22 points in the second half as the Sun extended their season-high winning streak to seven games with a 72-65 triumph over the struggling San Antonio Silver Stars.

All-Star Game MVP Katie Douglas added 13 points for Connecticut (21-6), which moved two games in front of second-place Detroit in the Eastern Conference. Detroit is visiting Sacramento later Sunday.

After squandering a seven-point lead earlier in the third quarter, the Sun answered with a 13-4 surge to close the period for a 53-46 lead. Jones led the way with eight points in the burst.

In the fourth quarter, Jones scored 10 points to help the Sun keep the lead. Her basket with 3:40 remaining provided the largest lead at 68-54.

Overall, Jones came off the bench to make 7-of-13 shots and 8-of-10 free throws.

Sophia Young scored 15 points and Agnes Bibrzycka 13 for San Antonio, (12-15), which lost for the seventh time in nine games and fell two games behind Seattle for the West's final playoff spot.
